The Global Banking team is responsible for initiating, developing and managing HSBC's relationships with corporate and institutional banking clients in South and Sub-Saharan Africa. This team is the initial point of contact between the client and the Group's full range of products and services delivered globally.
The Global Markets team offers a full treasury and capital markets service to a wide range of corporate and institutional clients. The products offered cover all asset classes, including the full spectrum of Rand-based facilities, foreign exchange, money markets and fixed income and securities finance, which includes a leading stock borrowing and lending operation bolstered by a hedge fund service that provides full risk management and execution to these funds.
The Investment Banking team is responsible for developing and maintaining senior relationships with clients of the bank, through strategic discussions including mergers and acquisitions, strategic partner introductions, capital markets (debt and equity), project finance, privatisation, and strategic advisory services.
The team, in conjunction with HSBC’s international Investment Banking Product Specialists and Investment Banking Sector Specialists, generates ideas for clients in relation to the above mentioned services, provides transaction support to our international Investment Banking colleagues, and executes transactions in South Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa, for our clients.
Support areas consist of Compliance, Credit Risk Management, Finance, HTS Service Delivery and Research, Human Resources, Information Technology, Internal Control, Legal and Marketing.
Our programme runs for 18 months. A graduate will be placed in a specific department for the duration of the programme. There will be no rotation.
As a graduate you will be provided with specific objectives that need to be achieved and provided with performance feedback every three months.
We have an informal mentoring programme in place and you will have the opportunity to select your own mentor within three months on the programme. It is then your responsibility to build and maintain the relationship with your mentor.
